About July 20, 2007

My name is Julie and I am an avid reader and book collector. I received my B.A. in English from Brigham Young University in April 2005. I live in Iowa with my wonderful husband Aaron and my three beautiful children, Spencer, Miya, and Amelia. This site is to share my opinions on books that I have read to help people to choose books for themselves or others.  Reviewing books is one of my many passions in life.  I would love to do it for a newspaper someday but my life, as yet, is not conducive to deadlines.  I love reading new books if you have any book suggestions for me leave a comment in the Suggest A Book… page and I’ll read it as soon as I can.

    Dear Avid Reader,

I love to read books, yet I do not know what kind of books I specifically like. A few on my favourites list are The Thirteenth Tale by Dianne Setterfield and The Shadow of The Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon.

I was wondering if you had any reviews on memoirs? I think I have an interest in books in this genre and I hope that you can help. Thanks.

I haven’t read any memoirs lately and so I don’t know of any to recommend. I feel strangely inadequate in this genre and out of my element. The best I can suggest is go to bn.com or amazon.com and search for memoirs. People usually leave comments on amazon and you can see what others say. Sorry I couldn’t be more helpful. If you find a good one or one you’d like reviewed let me know. I’d love to review it too and broaden my horizons.

    Hi Julie,

I enjoyed your blog project. You might enjoy my new P.I. Frank Johnson mystery, PELHAM FELL HERE. His past titles have been reviewed in Booklist, Publishers Weekly, etc. and compared to Lee Childs’ novels.

    Thanks for your interest,

    Ed

    Dear Julie,

Your site is a great tool to read reviews of specific works. My friend “Speed Reader” and I have our own site centered around Authors. I thought it would be fun for us to share ideas and possibly link our blogs together to get more traffic flowing. Soon Speedy and I are going to be doing Q&A’s with new authors whose books are being released in 2009! We are so excited! Thank you for this site! It is always fun to read stuff from a fellow bibliophile!

Hey great site!!! I was trying to decide if Twilight was a good read for my step daughter (I loved it but I was still reading horse books when I was 9 lol) Thanks now I have more on my to read list 🙂 If I can live until that list is cleared then I’ll never die 😉
However I am taking a speed reading class to get through them a little faster. Keep up the great work.

  14. Hi Julie

I can’t find an email address for you, so please forgive me intruding on your comment wall. I’d like to invite you to write about your favorite books at http://www.bookdrum.com, where you can add information, images, video, music and links to illustrate and explore the books.

Right now, we’re running a $3,000 Tournament and we’ll be offering contract work to the best entries.

    Best wishes
